Osamu Tezuka's 'Future' Chapter Finally Adapted into a Stage Play

The 'Future' chapter of Osamu Tezuka's classic 'Phoenix' series is set to be adapted into a stage play in February next year at the Shibuya Cultural Center Owada in Tokyo. Following the earlier 2016 performance of the 'Karma' chapter, this play will bring a new story from 'Phoenix' to the stage.

Details of the Stage Play and Cast

In 'Hi no Tori Mirai-hen ZEROMDISTANCE', the story depicts humanity's last stand in an underground city in the year 3404, when Earth is on the brink of destruction. The protagonist Masato Yamabe will be portrayed by actor Yuzuki Juta, alongside a stellar cast including Narumi Misako, Moro Morooka, Kudo Andone, Ichii Yuzuki, and Ohara Kaimaki. The play is directed and scripted by Kudo Ryusei, with music by Naoi Mutsumi.

History of 'Phoenix' and its Film Adaptations

Osamu Tezuka's 'Phoenix' series spans a grand timeline that traverses past and future. The series concluded its 12th chapter, the 'Sun' chapter, in 1988, but it continues to be revitalized through various media. In September of this year, a new anime 'Phoenix: Eden17' was globally distributed on Disney Plus, and a film adaptation is also set for release in November, proving its enduring popularity.
