The final season of Pokemon Horizons has finally reached its climax. In this concluding chapter, the themes of the entire series converge, with the growth and bonds of the characters deeply portrayed. These episodes, which move the audience, are evaluated as one of the best climaxes in the series.
The Final Battle with Liquéum
In the latter half of the third season, the storyline focuses on the Rising Volt Tacklers, who, having trained at the Blueberry Academy, find a way to permanently eliminate the mysterious substance "Liquéum" that threatens the bonds with Pokemon. They face the final battle against the explorer team, adding 18 types of Pokemon capable of Terastallization to their side. Behind this duel, deeper motivations and inner aspects of the enemy characters are portrayed, also revealing why they follow a person named Spinel.
Contrast Between Mega Evolution and Liquéum
Throughout the season, Mega Evolution is highlighted as a major element, contrasting with Liquéum. While Mega Evolution is built upon a strong bond between Trainer and Pokemon, Liquéum erodes that bond. This opposing structure emphasizes the growth of characters and the collapse of the explorer team. Particularly, the presence of the villain Spinel suggests what the character's potential might be if they didn't believe in bonds, leaving viewers wishing for further portrayal of him.
An Emotionally and Thematically Dense Climax
This final chapter reaches a climax both emotionally, thematically, and literally. The episodes are the most beautiful throughout the series, highlighting how their beloved Pokemon are at the heart of all activities. Although there are incomplete parts, with some characters' stories not fully depicted, this also reflects the tension of the overall arc.
There is some criticism regarding the use of music, but the series' progression feels ambitious and inspiring, inviting praise for its risks.
