Digital book distribution service BookWalker has newly added a total of 18 comic and webtoon titles from Ecomix Media. This addition offers readers a variety of genres. Among the ongoing series added are 'Don't Look for Me' and 'The 100-Day Alpha Project.'
Supporting Creators Affected by the Tapas Closure
BookWalker announced the provision of a new source of income and a platform for creators affected by the closure of the North American webtoon platform Tapas. Tapas is scheduled to cease services on March 31, 2027, and creators, especially those under 'Premium' and 'Early Access,' are encouraged to reach out to BookWalker.
New Management and Service Enhancement
In March 2025, the ownership of BookWalker Global changed from BookWalker Co., Ltd. to M12 Media LLC (formerly J-Novel Club LLC). As a result, English versions of manga and light novels from outside Japan have been migrated to the new BookWalker website and app. M12 Media LLC is part of the Kadokawa group.
BookWalker is also advancing a restructuring for service enhancement by implementing a lightweight content protection (LCP) DRM system. This allows users to enjoy purchased content through LCP-compatible reading apps outside of BookWalker.
