Sanrio announced that Kuromi will make her debut in a film on her birthday, Halloween. The film, titled "Kuromi the Movie," is scheduled for release in Japan. Distribution will be handled by the London-based film distribution company GAGA.
Kuromi's Journey and Popularity
Kuromi first appeared as a Sanrio character in the TV anime "Onegai My Melody" in 2005. Since then, she has established her own popularity, consistently ranking in the top five of the Sanrio Character Rankings for the past six years.
Kuromi has appeared in the anime shorts "Kuromi's Pretty Journey," which streamed from 2023 to 2024, and the stop-motion animation "My Melody & Kuromi," which was available on Netflix in July 2025.
Expectations for Overseas Expansion
