Screening Canceled Due to Subtitle Issue

GKIDS responded to complaints regarding the screening of the original anime film 'The Last Blossom', directed by Baku Kinoshita with a screenplay by Kazuya Chikamoto, where the timing of the English subtitles was off. The company promptly addressed the issue and distributed a revised version of the film the following day. However, some theaters were not able to update in time, leading to the cancellation of scheduled screenings. Along with an apology to audiences, GKIDS stated, "The screening experience is a crucial element of film culture, and we want our audience to enjoy this special work."

Exploring Options for Revised Screening

GKIDS announced that it is exploring opportunities to re-screen the revised version of 'The Last Blossom'. Initially scheduled for limited screenings on August 30th and 31st, they are considering options to offer a corrected viewing experience to affected audiences due to the inconvenience caused by the subtitle issue. The specific dates and locations are currently being explored.

'cocoon' to Screen as Planned

Additionally, GKIDS confirmed that the anime film 'cocoon - Summer of Girls', based on Machiko Kyo's manga 'Cocoon', will begin screenings in North American theaters as scheduled on September 4th. They mentioned that schedule adjustments are taking place at some theaters, and there may be additional screening locations or changes. Both subtitled and English dubbed versions are planned to be screened.

GKIDS stated that they will continue to resolve issues and streamline screenings to provide a high-quality experience for audiences.
