The Role of AI in the Presentation
Game publisher Level-5 boldly introduced AI technology at the recently held "Vision 2026 II Dream" presentation. According to CEO Akihiro Hino, this AI technology was incorporated as an experimental attempt to aim for a better presentation. Acknowledging that this decision might have caused discomfort to some viewers, Hino issued an official statement expressing his apologies.
Advantages and Challenges of AI Technology
Hino mentioned that Level-5 aims to incorporate AI technology into the game development process to improve efficiency by converting human-created materials into digital assets. Specifically, by digitizing elements like scenarios, character design, and world-building created by human hands, production efficiency is expected to improve. This time-saving measure is said to further promote the creative process within the studio.
It has also been stated that the company is currently in the testing and refining stages of AI with the goal of shortening the development cycle of major titles from five years to two years.
Future Prospects and Challenges
Hino commented on reflecting this experience in future efforts and encouraged anticipation for the company's next presentation. The announcement featured game titles such as "Yo-kai Watch 2," "Puffler's Adventure," "DECAPOLICE," and "Fantasy Life i." Additionally, a short making-of video for "Professor Layton and the Curious Village" was presented, along with a preview of the Tokyo Game Show 2026 exhibition booth. These details can be viewed with English and Simplified Chinese subtitles on Level-5's official YouTube channel.
