Opening Session to Celebrate the Kickoff
During the opening session on the 29th, representatives from game, the German Games Industry Association that hosts gamescom, the Thai Game Association (TGA), and the Digital Economy Promotion Agency (depa) took the stage. They spoke about the significance of this event from their respective perspectives.
gamescom asia is the Asian counterpart to Cologne's gamescom, one of Europe's largest gaming events. Since 2025, it has been integrated with the Thailand Game Show, making this the second occasion it is held in Bangkok. This event is seen as a valuable platform that combines both business and entertainment.
New Programs in the Business Area
This year's business area introduced two new programs. One is "Reverse Pitch," a new initiative opposite to the usual pitches from studios to publishers, where publishers present to developers what games they are seeking. The other is "Debate," where discussions focus on whether efficiency or creativity is the key to success in the AI era.
The Thai Pavilion features 49 companies in the business area and exhibits 86 game titles in the entertainment area, showcasing the growth of Thailand's game industry.
Asia Game Talent Showcase Also Held
For the first time, the "Asia Game Talent Showcase" will be held, providing a platform for student developers from across Asia to present their games and connect with industry professionals. This event is a significant step in nurturing the next generation of creators. The works introduced in this space can also be enjoyed in the entertainment area.
Message to Visitors
Finally, Lars Janssen of game emphasized the importance of new encounters that lead to business and made a call to participants. Supakorn Siddhichai of depa also highlighted that many international developers and publishers are participating in this year's event, raising expectations for Thailand's game industry's international status increase.
From October 30 onwards, major companies like Bandai Namco Entertainment, Capcom, and Sega will participate in the entertainment area, providing a place for general visitors to experience the latest games.
