The Release of the New Issue and Its Intent
The second issue of Kodansha's Young Magazine USA Special Issue further strengthens its overseas expansion. This special issue provides Japanese manga artists the opportunity to bring their stories to many readers abroad. As before, the submission theme is "stories of those marginalized by society."
Submission Details and Future Outlook
Interested artists need to submit a storyboard and a three-page manuscript sample by December 13, 2026. The first issue featured a grand total of 1,044 pages, including popular Japanese series as well as numerous original works.
Success of the Previous Issue and Future Expectations
The first issue was distributed for free at events such as Anime NYC to commemorate the 45th anniversary of Young Magazine in 2025. The cover illustration by Shiro Koshigai from Ghost in the Shell also created a buzz. Moreover, the top five works selected through a reader voting campaign were guaranteed serialization on Kodansha's K MANGA app, and there is anticipation for the discovery and cultivation of even more outstanding works this time.
Digital Expansion and Reader Response
The first special issue was also made available for free on global comic platforms and Omoi, showcasing its digital reach. This has allowed more readers to easily access the works, increasing anticipation for the second issue.
